Gangasagar can be easily accessed through roadways, railways, and flights from Kolkata.
By Road
The most common way to reach is via the Diamond Harbour Road. Travel 90 km from Kolkata to reach Harwood Point (Lot No. 8) near Kakdwip. Thereafter, board the ferry at Kachuberia and use a local transport service till reaching Kapil Muni Ashram. The entire journey will typically take 4 to 5 hours.
By Train
Board the local train from Sealdah Railway Station to reach Kakdwip or Namkhana. Once at the station, proceed to ferry ghats of Lot No. 8, travel to Kachuberia by ferry, and drive from there to Gangasagar.
There are several direct morning local trains from Sealdah every day.
By Air
The closest airport is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. Take a taxi from the airport and use local transport from there onwards till reaching Gangasagar via Kakdwip and ferry route.
