Jaldapara National Park is one of the most popular wildlife destinations in North Bengal, located in the Dooars region at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas, along the Torsa River. Spread over 216.51 sq km, the park is famous for its vast grasslands and is home to the Asiatic one-horned rhinoceros, making it the second-highest rhino habitat in India after Kaziranga.
Declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1943 and upgraded to a National Park in 2012, Jaldapara offers rich biodiversity, scenic landscapes, and exciting jungle safaris.

Jaldapara offers Elephant Safari and Jeep Safari, both conducted with forest department permits and advance booking.
Elephant Safari: Available only in the morning hours, offering close encounters with rhinos, bison, deer, and birds.
Jeep Safari: Conducted in morning and evening slots, ideal for wildlife viewing and photography across different forest ranges.
Best Time to Visit
The park remains open from 15 September to 15 June. The best time to visit is October to March. It stays closed during the monsoon season.

Apart from rhinos, the park is home to elephants, bison, deer species, wild boars, leopards, and rich birdlife including the Bengal Florican, hornbills, eagles, and peafowl. Reptiles like pythons, cobras, and monitor lizards are also found here.
