Best Session For Planning Sundarban Trip

Sundarbans National Park, located in West Bengal, is the largest mangrove forest in the world and the natural habitat of the famous Royal Bengal Tiger. This unique delta region is also home to crocodiles, spotted deer, dolphins, and a wide variety of migratory and resident birds. The forest can only be explored by boat, making the safari experience truly special as visitors cruise through narrow river channels surrounded by dense mangroves.

Best Time To Visit Sunderban National Park

Winter Month – The best time to visit Sundarbans National Park is during the winter months from October to February. During this period, the weather remains pleasant with clear skies and comfortable temperatures ranging between 10°C and 25°C. Wildlife sightings are more frequent as animals, including tigers, often come out to bask in the sun along the riverbanks. Migratory birds flock to places like Sajnekhali, making it an excellent time for birdwatching and photography. Boat safaris are also safer and more enjoyable due to calm river conditions.

Summer Time – Summer, which lasts from March to June, is generally hot and humid, with temperatures rising as high as 40°C or more. The intense heat can make safaris uncomfortable, especially in non-AC boats. Wildlife activity tends to decrease during the daytime as animals remain in shaded areas. However, summer can be suitable for travelers who prefer fewer crowds and lower tour prices, particularly if safaris are planned early in the morning or late in the evening.

Monsoon Time – The monsoon season from July to September brings heavy rainfall and rising river levels. While the forest appears lush and vibrant during this time, boat safaris can become risky due to strong tides and occasional storms. Though some adventure lovers may enjoy the dramatic beauty of the rainy season, it is generally not considered the most comfortable or safest time for travel.
